The Regional Park of Sand Hills (PRLA for its Spanish abbreviation) , besides having enormous dunes (mountains of sand) and crystal-water lakes, is rich in flora and fauna.
This majestic eco-system has about 208 species of water and land plants; 48 mammal species (most of them on their way to extinction) and 286 bird species, which make of it the perfect place for scientific research. It is also a touristic potential for the region. |

In Samaipata we can visit the archeological site of “El Fuerte” (The Fortress), called the last Inca remaining.
It has the biggest carved stone of the world, declared by UNESCO as a Humanity Heritage, located 9 km from the town of Samaipata .
The Fuerte de Samaipata is an extraordinary place, whose origins and meaning are still a matter of research.

The Bolivian Pantanal cover the east of the Department of Santa Cruz where a biological reservation of the swamps are found, with rain and dry forests, places mostly inaccessible to men, it is located between the regions of deep Chaco and the Amazonian basin, thus you can see the most inhospitable and wild places of nature. The Pantanal is one of the greatest flood areas of the world. It covers 100.000 km2 of permanent swamps and flooded plains. |

Vallegrande, the capital of the province with the same name within the Department of Santa Cruz, is located at 244 km from the capital. Founded on March 30, 1612 by the rural teacher Mr. Lucio Escalante, was baptized with the name “Jesús y Montes Claros de los Caballeros”.
